Recipe for Chocolate Waffles I

Ingredients:

  • 2 (1 ounce) squares Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate
  • 1 cup Butter (softened & unsalted)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cup White Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 & ½ Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • ¼ Teaspoon Salt
  • ½ Cup Milk

Equipment:

  • Microwave
  • Bowls
  • Waffle Iron
  • Measuring Spoons/Cups

Steps to make Chocolate Waffles:

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, microwave chocolate until melted. Stir until chocolate is smooth. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, add the butter, sugar, and mix well.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each one.
  4. Then, add the melted chocolate, vanilla extract & stir well. Set aside.
  5. Take another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt & mix well.
  6. Add gradually to the butter & sugar mixture, alternating with the milk.
  7. Spray preheated waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray. Pour the mixture into the hot waffle iron. Cook until crisp.

Recipe for Chocolate Waffles II

Ingredients:

  • 2 & ¼ Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • ½ Cup White Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • ¾ Teaspoon Salt
  • ¾ Cup Butter (unsalted)
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 & ½ Cups Milk
  • 6 Egg Whites
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract

Steps to make Chocolate Waffles:

  1. In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  2. Place the butter and chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Cook on High power for 1 minute, and then stir. Continue to cook for 15 seconds at a time, stirring each time until chocolate is melted and smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. When the chocolate mixture is fairly cool, stir in the milk, egg whites, and vanilla. Pour this into the dry ingredients, and mix just until blended.
  4. Preheat the waffle iron, and coat with cooking spray. Spoon waffle batter into the hot iron in desired amounts.
  5. Close, and cook until the iron stops steaming, and waffles are easy to remove. Repeat with the remaining batter.
